The challenge: strong brand, limited reach

Our client entered 2025 with everything a heritage brand should have — strong recognition, high recall, and generational familiarity. But familiarity alone no longer guarantees demand. The brand faced a structural challenge common to heritage labels: its commercial performance was heavily concentrated in seasonality, leaving significant revenue potential untapped across the rest of the calendar year and across the full breadth of its product range.

The brief was clear: move beyond seasonal peaks, build year-round relevance, and convert deep-seated brand equity into sustained commercial growth.

Our approach: Discovery as a strategic framework

Journey Further’s starting point was a diagnostic one. Rather than jumping straight to activation, we used our Discovery System to understand where this apparel brand was being found, how it was being understood, and how effectively it was being chosen — across surfaces mediated by both humans and machines.

That diagnostic work revealed a specific gap: the brand’s presence (how easily it could be found) was structurally strong, but its interpretation — how it was understood across search, AI platforms, and earned media — was weak and volatile. The brand was being encountered, but not being understood as a year-round, multi-category retailer. Instead, humans and machines were pigeon-holing the brand into one narrow category – outerwear.

This Interpretation gap was suppressing new customer discovery beyond its core seasonal window. With that clarity, we built a strategy to close the gap.

The strategy: building year-round discovery

Through our proprietary diagnostic, the Relative Discovery Score (RDS), we identified the primary opportunity for the brand’s media strategy was to address the imbalance between strong brand equity and weak demand capture. To break the cycle of seasonal dependence, we implemented a data-led approach to build effective, year-round discovery and customer and machine understanding of the brand’s full product offering. We achieved this diversification of product appeal and scaled digital investment by:

  • Search synchronization. Using our proprietary methodology, we aligned paid and organic search to protect core demand while simultaneously building authority in non-seasonal categories — knitwear, shirts, polos, footwear, and accessories.
  • Evergreen content authority. We conducted deep product-level reviews to identify year-round search opportunities, then created optimized landing pages to capture that organic intent and establish the brand as a credible, discoverable choice outside its traditional outerwear heartland.
  • A more sophisticated media mix. We significantly scaled total digital investment, shifting the channel mix toward paid social segments prioritizing quality and durability over broad demographics, and reorienting campaign activations toward year-round gifting and accessories. AI-guided bidding was directed toward hero collections to drive profitable non-core category growth. Critically, this approach deliberately reduced reliance on heavy promotional periods like Black Friday and Cyber Monday — a structural shift away from short-term mechanics toward compounding demand.

The results: record-breaking performance

The 2025 strategic pivot transformed the brand’s commercial trajectory by building momentum in non-outerwear product categories across all core global markets during the FW25 period:

  • UK revenue: +44% vs. forecast
  • US revenue: +57% vs. forecast
  • Germany revenue: +52% vs. forecast
  • Italy PPC revenue: +112% vs. forecast

This is not just a short-term revenue gain, we’re building ongoing momentum indicated by a surge in brand demand: total brand impressions grew 41% over two years, reaching over 19.1 million in 2025.

The takeaway

This case demonstrates what becomes possible when brand equity is paired with genuine discoverability. By addressing the gap between being found and being understood, the brand unlocked demand that had always existed — it simply hadn’t been captured. The result was compounding, year-round growth built on a foundation that outlasts any seasonal peak.
